If I live in the NWT,I can get many inspiration from nature. The beauty of art is inferior to the beauty of nature.
And nature is good teacher for children.Children can be strong because of cold, but I will die...
I'd like to live in the middle of nowhere;however,if I live in more remote communities without a car,it is difficult to get foods.I have to fish and hunt wild game.Oh...wait.I can use dog sledding!I wanna try dog sledding!
Housing prices are not expensive, though distance and freight add considerably to the cost.
I thought their health care is good. There are no premiums for medical care and eye exams. And extended health benefits are also available, at no cost, for specified disease conditions that are not covered by hospital and medical care insurance.
Anyway,I'll start my own dog sled team if I live in the NWT.

Hello,everyone!
1)I hope to go to the NWT because I can eat homegrown thing in the NWT.Nowdays in Japan,I have to be careful to vegitables or foods are from where because of the nuclear power plant station as Kanoko
said.Canada also has it but Canada has a lot of nature and preserve them.I don't need to be worried. Also I can get a job easily and salaries are generally higher.Although they said that a smaller portion of my income is taken by taxable,Japan is same.Furthermore, there are no premiums for medical care and eye exams is helping for people. The sports are pretty good.I think these are the positives thing for living in the NWT.
2)However,transit services look a bit bad and the time of their working is too short,I think so.
3)About housing prices are common in Japan but I feel it's more expensive than Okinwa just a little.
4)It's says that it's not cold,I don't think so.I can't understand it's minus 40 degrees in Winter. That's not common in Japan but I can see Aurola viewing is better.Actually.
5)I think I want to live there about 2 years.
6)If I have a child,I would raise my child there because they can learn a lots. For example, about the nature of Canada, the culture of the NWT and English.
7)I want to play any sports in the NWT.
8)All of these things interest me and I would be able to get experience in the NWT and that's important in my life or future for sure.

Wed, Dec 18 Discussion Question
Hi everybody!
This question is a little bit different than the usual questions I post.
Please go to http://comemakeyourmark.ca/
This website has a lot of information on the NorthWestTerritory in Canada. The capital of this territory is Yellowknife.
Please scroll down the to bottom of the page and use these links to search for information.
What are the positives of living in NWT?
What are the negatives of living in NWT?
Do you think housing prices are high?
What do you think of the climate (weather)?
Would you want to live there?
Would you want to raise children in the NWT?
What kind of activies can you do in the NWT? Do any of these interest you?
Have fun!
Matthew

If violence happens, their children should taken away from them.
But I wanna respect children's opinion as much as possible.
Please don't think if parents had bad problems, their child always would be bad person.Sometimes parent's problems take away many possibilities from children. But they can find a way if somebody believes their. And who knows what happens in the future?
We should support them as we can do it.And we should respect children's hopes.

1)I think in toronto is easy to recycle because Toronto has lots of garbage on the streets for recycling and people in toronto have a garbage for recycling.
2)We shouldn't blame people who live in apartments or landlords but I think we can tell them how to recycle easier for them.
3)There shouldn't be a fine because there are people don't know about separate rubbish sometimes that is difficult.I'm getting confused about it also.
4)We have recycling program but most of people don't really,I think. When I was a student,I used to recycle in school because I have to do that.
5)Actually I don't know what rubbish can be but I have seen the house was built by many used cans.
6)I do that.At first I had no idea how I can recycle. My hostmom told me about that, however.
7)I think so.The world has a recycling. If every country recycled, the environment would be very good definately.

I think every generation has a good and bad side.I can't choose which is better. Now's children can easily get everything;however, affluent life can't make imagination or power to think themselves.
No. I don't think so. today's children are losing their thought and creativity.
I'm a hundred percent certain that they enjoy better life than childeren in the past did. For example, they have more clothes, nicer toys, more books and somethings that weren't in the past like ipad, smartphone, computer. However,
the better situation give children a fish, not how to get a fish. They can get many information without thinking or curiosity and feel fun without real friends or playing out. So, they don't need to make various friends in real life because they have nicer toys and computer game. They also don't like to think deeply because they already have lots of knowdledge through smartphone or internet.
Gen
In my opinion,That's no answer because probably, there was play suitable for the time,so we'll not be able to decide which is better but now's children will be happy because they have a lot of playing things and can easily play everything, everytimes, almost everywhere.I think that they are luxury too much.

1. cellphones in court
: I think "No evidence, No vaildity". How can we assure that his cellphone suddenly works by bumping? Somepeople could believe and understand his excuse, however, other people could think
he lied. Because there isn't an evidence that show if he turned off his phone or changed it to silent mode before entering courtroom. So, He can't say his innocence without the evidence. I think he must pay the fine.
However, I don't know why the judge, Clarke, made this rule. Maybe, It is due to interference with court or leak of secret information. If it is reasonable why he prohibit using cellphone in court room,
we should keep the rule.
2. Halloween costumes
: We don't need to prohibit it. It's freedom whatever people wear. If it should be illegal, whom do you punish? the young girls or their parents? Their parents cannot control everything their children do. It isn't guilty for young girls to wear the provocative costume. It's guilty to think sexually about young girls. However, I also agree the provocative costume doesn't fit to young girls. It's just my opinion. If i were a parent, I would recommend my girl to wear the costume makes her cute and fun. She can appel to people more and enjoy the party perfectly.
In korea, Holloween is not popular. Nowdays, some young people gather and enjyou holloween in the club, drinking. We can rarely see poeple wearing costume at the downtown in halloween.

Anywhere of the world, some people say that victims don't have sense of danger and parents don't have sense of danger.Who is responsible for it?Who should be regulated?Even if woman wear a chador or niqab,a rape crime happens.Even if children wear what kind of clothes, the pedophile commits a crime.
These types of costumes should not be illegal.
I don't know why people want to lay a responsibility on week people.

I think that isn't big problem but their parents should be care about their children,so shouldn't be illegal. Also, the young girls must be careful. However, I think that is impossible because Holloween will be cold, so if I were them I will not be able to do that because of cold.I can't stand.
My hometown has Holloween but that is not all of the area.Just someplace.People are wearing a lot kind of costumes that such as SPIDERMAN, STARWARS or Japanese characters,I think mostly they will be movies character. The girls will be police women or nurse kind of jobs worker.

Howdy everybody!
The first topic we will discuss is a repeat from last week because I forgot. Sorry about that.
1)Cellphones and court.

After reading this article, please think about the questions at the bottom of the article. Also, do you think $50 is enough of a fine to stop people from using cell phones in court? Should cell phones be collected and kept by staff before people enter the courtroom?
The second topic is a new one. This is a very short article.
2) Girl and Halloween costumes
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saskatchewan/provocative-halloween-costumes-for-girls-1.2129318
For the last three years or more, police have been spending a lot of time and money arresting pedophiles (adults who like children). At the same time, Halloween costumes (and general clothing) for young girls has been getting more and more provocative (please look this word up). Why do you think this is happening when it is clear that thinking sexually about young girls is a terrible crime?
Also, should these types of costumes be illegal?
Should parents allow their children to wear these costumes?
What do people think about little girls who wear these costumes?
What do you think about little girls who wear these costumes?
Is there Halloween in your home country? If there is, what do people wear? If there is not, is there another holiday when people dress up in costumes?

I can't understand him. He is a judge. A Judge must be model because high people are most important in their places and if they have dishonour rule, many people won't have dishonour rule.
So he should be more punished and he must apologize properly.

When I was in japan, the outdoor shop which I worked stopped giving a plastic bag.Because a lot of people threw away our plastic bags on near outdoor spots. The companies have to devise a package.

Please read the following article
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/newfoundland-labrador/police-catch-traffic-violators-the-sneaky-way-1.1863142
What is your opinion?
Do you think that this is fair?
Are the police just tricking people?
Is this a good thing?
Is speeding a problem where you grew up?
What do the police do to stop speeding in your home country or city?
Should roads be shut down when construction is happening so that construction workers can work safely?

Please go to this link http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/windsor/modern-homes-burn-8-times-faster-than-50-years-ago-1.1700063 and read the article. Watch the video if you like too.
Do you think it is a personal responsibility, a manufacturer (the maker of the product) responsibility, or a government responsibility to make sure that products for the home are safe?
Should these flammable (burn easily) products be illegal?
Why do you think the modern home products (couches, etc), are made to burn so much faster? Is this something done on purpose by the manufacturer, or it is just a mistake?
What kind of home products are in the home where you live?
See you tomorrow!

Traffic in Tronto
Toronto is biggest city in Canada. now, many skyscraper condo apartments are constructed
in water-front area .also surrounding cities many houses and apartments are same.
many peoples are commuting from their houses to downtown. main lines are congested with
cars especially at rush hour. now it is ok but after 10 years traffic jam will happen big social
problems.
i have suggestion about traffic network
1 Consutructing subway net
2 stopping street cars
3 making special bike lines
Politician has to lied Government for future society.

Discussion question
I hope everyone had a great long weekend!
Thank you to Mana and Yoshi for getting their presentation topics up. This week was a little bit confusing because we are doing the Friday presentations on Tuesday, so if you did not post your question, that is okay. It is the Monday presentation that requires the posting of the question.
This does introduce a good point though. If you would like to post your Friday presentation topic, that is okay with me. I might ask a question, and others might ask questions too.
The discussion topic for Wednesday will be as follows.
Two years after the earthquake, the crisis at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant is still getting
worse and worse. It has just been discovered that the radiation being released could kill a person in four hours.
Because of this (and the Chernobyl disaster) , do you think that nuclear power should be banned (made illegal)?
If you would like to look at the CBC article, it is at http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/story/2013/09/01/japan-fukushima-reactor-radiation-levels-spike.html
See you tomorrow!

Discussion question for Aug 28/13
Discussion question
Your best friend has decided to get married, but you really do not like the person they will get married to. Do you tell them the truth, or do you stay quiet? If you tell them, how would you tell them? What would you say? If you decide to stay quiet, why? Would you feel bad in the future if they had an unhappy marriage?
Students: Please think about this question, and then create a new post. In this post, only write you opinion (e.g. I would tell my friend). Do not give all of your reasons. We will discuss those in class.
Thanks!
